The MENTOR Initiative’s Malaria Control Response

Active in Angola since 2004 in two highly endemic provinces and engaged at national level to provide technical support to the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) of the Angolan Ministry of Health (MOH), MENTOR remains true to its ethos; building the capacity of the entities responsible at country level for malaria control to ensure the use of organic strategies with sustainable outcomes.

In close collaboration with various international bodies like UNHCR, UNICEF, US Agency for International Development (USAID), and the US Center for Disease Control (CDC) among others, MENTOR has implemented projects for the past 5 years that provide the technical and material support needed to bring the NMCP closer to its target of a 50% malaria case reduction by 2010.

Currently funded by USAID and the Presidents Malaria Initiative (PMI), MENTOR is now implementing three malaria control projects in the provinces of Huambo and Zaire.
