Myanmar
In response to Cyclone Nargis The MENTOR Initiative began its programme in Myanmar (Burma) providing emergency malaria and dengue control training and commodities for all WATSAN and Health partners operating in the affected areas. This response included two rounds of community based larviciding in the region and a year later a follow on campaign in Yangon that included over 2000 volunteers.

Indonesia
The destruction of the 2004 Tsunami brought in The MENTOR Initiative team to Indonesia. It began as an emergency response to control malaria and dengue through large scale IRS, larviciding, education campaigns and provision of case management supplies, and then transitioned into supporting the Ministry of Health to strengthen their malaria control programme in Province of Aceh. The MENTOR team left in late 2008 after establishing regional epidemic response plans in at risk areas.
