MALARIA & vector Borne Disease Control Intensive 5-Day training Courses
DATES & LOCATIONS 2012 & 2013
This course is aimed at equipping both clinical and non-clinical field and HQ staff with the key skills required to identify needs, and develop, prioritise and implement evidence-based control programmes across the spectrum of vector borne diseases. Participants will learn to identify risk factors and understand the epidemiology and principle prevention, case management, surveillance and monitoring implementation tools useful for diseases transmitted by mosquito, sand, black and tse tse fly, triatomine, snail, mite, tick and rodent.
The aim of the workshops is to ensure evidence-based decision making by health care providers in humanitarian crises. Participants will learn to assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate effective and coordinated malaria prevention and control strategies. This will be reflected in their overall emergency health response to acute emergencies - conflict and natural disasters for populations including IDPs, refugees, host communities - and countries moving through recovering crises into reconstruction phases.
